New Projects

Following stays in Miami, Costa Rica, and Central Mexico, in the winters of 2015 through 2018, Griffith was inspired to make some entirely new kinds of work. The new work started out as small, colorful, mixed media works on paper, more full of fun (and satire) and mostly cut loose from humdrum reality. Going into 2017 and 2018, her work gained yet more variety, color, size and energy. Each year for three years about 50 of these new works were presented for sale and viewing at the Silo Point studio fall show.

The last piece shown here represents the latest Griffith work. It was completed after her return from time spent looking at art in Mexico City and Oaxaca in early 2018, with a special interest in antiquities and the work of young contemporary artists from Mexico, Central and South America. It is one of the joyous consequences of our world connectivity that artists and musicians now borrow and learn from each other more than ever, forming an exciting mix of forms and styles while concurrently pointing out the huge diversity and individualism of people, their passions and their cultures.
